Blackgate Lamb Box Co. was created to offer something increasingly rare: exceptional lamb, produced with care, and sold directly from the farm.

Our lamb is raised at Sheffield House Farm, a family-run farm with deep roots . I am a third-generation farmer, and my two children are proud to be part of the fourth generation carrying the family tradition forward. Sheep have always been at the heart of the farm, and in 2020 we began breeding pedigree Texel sheep, followed by Suffolks in 2025, with a focus on quality, conformation, and flavour. Every decision on the farm is made with one goal in mind producing lamb of outstanding taste and consistency.

Farming is truly a family affair. Alongside my wife, our children are actively involved in daily farm life, learning responsibility, stockmanship, and respect for the land all while having fun. That family ethos runs through everything we do and underpins the care taken at every stage of production.

Our commitment to excellence shows in the show ring, where our sheep have achieved multiple 1st place awards, Overall Champion titles, and a Top 5 placing at the National Texel Show among around 200 entries. At Balmoral Show 2024, we proudly secured: 1st Open Ram Lamb, 1st Open Pair of Ram Lambs and 2 5th place titles in 2025.

While showing is important, it ultimately serves a greater purpose ensuring the highest standards in the lamb we produce.

With growing concerns about food provenance, quality, and traceability, we began filling our own freezer with lamb reared entirely on the farm. The difference in taste, texture, and consistency was unmistakable. From that, Blackgate Lamb Box Co. was born a desire to share truly premium lamb with people who value quality as much as we do.

In addition to lamb, Sheffield House Farm is home to our own apiary, producing natural honey and also producing bars of soap with a sheep twist further reflecting our commitment to sustainable, small-scale farming rooted in the land. Kilian (7) is rearing farm bred turkeys and with the love he shows them it’s coming through in the taste; I still cannot get over the reviews we receive for them!
